One of the two uniforms cadets are now issued, this uniform can be worn at many events, from tours and training to formal dress occasions.

For years this one uniform was the ONLY uniform cadets received. The recent addition of the FTU type uniform has given cadets the opportunity to dress down for potentially dirtier events ( FTU) and dress up for other events.

Cadets reviewing the ORDERS of dress will see there are multiple ways this uniform can be worn. At it’s most formal – with shirt and tie / medals – it’s called C1.

Boots

Boots will be shined, and worn laced up properly as straight laced. Cadets should spend some time each month shining their boots.

Socks

Cadets should wear good socks with their drill boots. Marching and drill can be serious work, and solid socks can help protect your feet. Cadets will be issued wool socks – but they MAY choose to wear alternate socks as per the dress regulations.

Pants

Blue pants should be worn, with sharp creases along the front and back of each leg. The pants should end in a good hem, at between the second and third bootlace going up the boot.

Belt

The issued pants belt ( with silver buckle) will be worn with the pants.

Top

The top worn with the pants will be defined for the cadet. It may be shirt, shirt and tie or t-shirt. These may be worn with the tunic. In hot weather, the tunic may not be called for, or may be removed at a suitable point during the event. Cadets should always be prepared to remove the tunic and still look smart.

Shirt

The shirt should be clean and properly pressed. A crease should run down the center of the sleeve, from the middle of the epaulet down to the bottom of the short sleeve.

Tie

When called for – the tie will be worn with the button up shirt. Instructions on tying tie are posted on another tab.

T-shirt

At less formal events, the plain blue t-shirt may be worn. It may be worn under the tunit. The Blue t-shirt and the blue dress shirt should NEVER be worn together.

Tunic

This safari style jacket should be worn with the shoulder flashes sewn properly on. Rank ( if the cadet has any) sewn on properly. Any cadet levels, or other rank badges should be properly located.

The tunic should be ironed – noting that there are NO creases in the arms of the tunic. It should be wrinkle and lint free. The belt should be worn smartly , and the buckle centered along the center line of the jacket.

Headdress

The headdress worn with the blue uniform is the wedge. In a sub-zero situation, the blue cadet toque may be worn instead, when the jacket is also worn. The insignia should be centered.

Nametag

The blue nametag is worn just over the right pocket on either the tunic or the button up shirt. It is never worn on the t-shirt.
