Cadets in 296 Squadron are sponsored locally by the 296 Sponsor Committee – a team of concerned parents and friends of the squadron whom provide financial support, guidance and oversight to the Squadron and it’s staff.

Overseeing the finances for the squadron, as well as working to oversee fundraising opportunities – the Sponsor Committee is a Vital component in the success of 296 Squadron Cadets – and they have been recognized numerous times by the Air Cadet League for the fantastic work they do.

The Sponsor committee also provides support with like meals and beverages so events like the Vigil can occur. Without their vital support – the Squadron and it’s member cadets would not be as successful.

The Sponsor Committee works with the Staff, Parents and Cadets on numerous fundraising events to support the unit, it’s band and it’s activities. these include:

Tagging – done each fall and spring in the community

Airwalk – An indoor winter fundraiser held each year at the Cambridge Center Mall. Cadets collect pledges in advance then complete a walk a thon inside the mall, covering more than 8 kilometers.

Bingo – a fundraiser through the Cambridge Bingo Center , via the Ontario Lottery and Gaming program. Parent volunteers and Sponsor members attend Bingo nights to assist and a donation is made to the Squadron Sponsor committee to support the cadet Program.

296 Cadet Squadron Sponsor Committee is proud to participate in Charitable Gaming through the Cambridge Bingo and Gaming Centre. This ongoing financial support allows us to offer much needed programs and services. When we come together we make things possible for our community.
