SQUADRON AWARDS

Each Cadet Squadron and Corps in Canada has awards that are presented each year to outstanding cadets.  These awards are a representation on the history and goals of the unit – a unique reminder of how broad our country is.

These awards go hand in hand with the medals and awards available to cadets through the National honours and Awards system.   Those would include the Strathcona Medal, the Cadet Service Medal, and the Royal Canadian Legion Medal of Excellence.

The awards presented by 296 Squadron have changed over time to keep up with the changes in the program.   We believe they represent the core values of the program.    Each award has a set of guidelines for selection, and are usually presented at the end of the training year in June – at the Annual Review and the Graduation Dinner.     ( note that there may be some years that the award is not presented – no candidates having met the given minimum standard)
